Opportunity and Risk

Have you ever thought about the fact that every opportunity is based in risk? It is only as we accept the risk and act that we see the fruit from the opportunity. Have you ever considered that moving is always forward and never in reverse? Reverse is not where you go if you want to move toward accomplishment, victory. Is 'forward' always the only direction? Can we move... backward to victory, or maybe to one or the other sides? Who are our models? How do they act? How do they speak? What is their message?

A great number of questions, but none should be lightly considered. Our answers prove who we are and how we go about being us. We are always responding to our daily opportunities... or ignoring them. Our comfort level is always challenged and we can never just stand still. How can we accept the challenge and opportunity, take the risk. and move? The Lord came that we might have an abundant life, but can we do this without accepting all that attends 'abundant'? And He clearly states that we it is only as we abide in Him (John 15:4) that we are fruitful. That speaks to only 1 way in my understanding.

Now consider where you are. A mistake? If you are a Christian and know, not just feel, that you are being led by God, then can you honestly say you are in the wrong place at the wrong time? The more I think about it... can you call yourself a Christian and not be led by God? If you truly believe that you, where you are, what you are doing is a mistake... whose? Yours? God's? God doesn't make mistakes and He tries to help us all from making them too, though ultimately it is our decision. Have you stopped and looked at the opportunities at your hand? Do you see the challenges that can lead you to fruitfulness and an abundant life?

From only a brief glance at my writings, it is very evident that I am a proponent of 'moving on'. However, indiscriminate moving or moving for moving's sake are rarely the determiners of that movement. There should always be some general idea of where you are going and the 'why' is always a good mate to bring along. We need to be intentional, purposeful so that we act confidently.

"Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and
to completely finish His work. Do you not say, ‘It is still four months
until the harvest comes?’ Look, I say to you, raise your eyes and look
at the fields and see, they are white for harvest. Already the reaper is
receiving his wages and he is gathering fruit for eternal life; so that he
who plants and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this case the
saying is true, ‘One [person] sows and another reaps.’" (John 4:34-37, AMP)

Scripture reminds us not only who we are, but Whose we are, and what we should be about. No, that doesn't mean that you are called to go to the extreme parts of this world, though you could be. It means that in the world that you live, you are there for a reason... not just to take up space. You are needed, wanted. equipped, enabled to be about our Father's business. Take advantage of the opportunities that are presented to you. Take the risk and be bold and experience the joy of being in a place and time that afforded you the opportunity to be a harvester.
